| CAN SOCIAL NETWORKING HELP YOUR BUSINESS? |
Most people think that the social networking scene is for teenagers and for people to waste time while they should be working. However, over the last seven months I have been using this medium to improve our marketing and name recognition. I thought I would highlight some of the sites I like to use and ask you to take a look at the pages I have been using. EVERYTHING in the following list is FREE!
LinkedIn
This is a site that allows you to keep an up to date professional resume. You may include your jobs, hobbies, educational background and an updated photo. It is a great way to network with clients and prospects. It also allows you to search by companies to see what individuals you may contact in order to present your products and services.

Facebook
You may have seen your children or your recently divorced neighbor using this site but it can be used in a professional manner. When you enter your background, schools and job history, the site looks for people you may know. Since I have joined I have been able to meet people I have not seen since high school. I have made appointments and reconnected with people that are in a position to use my services, which was my goal from the beginning.

You tube
This is not just a site for stupid videos of some college student setting their backyard on fire during a bar-b-que. I have used this site to put our media interviews and speaking engagements on. Do you have sales presentations that you could video tape and put up for customers and prospects? Do you build something that you can do a before and after video? This is a great service.

Blogging
It is an online diary that you can use to promote your business and marketing efforts. Do you have opinions and like to read what is going on in your industry? Blogging is the fastest news media in the world. It is going on during television shows, conferences, football games and more.

Some things to consider:
- Don't try to do everything at once. Pick one medium and get good at it, then move on.
- Be careful of what you post. You cannot take it back.
- Look at what other people are doing and copy what you like. Don't reinvent the wheel.
- Ask for help. You have friends that are doing this and you don't even know it.
- Don't get caught up trying to update everyone when you brush your teeth or walk the dog. Keep it professional.
